Location services on mobile devices

Several aspects of Hortis, such as plant material mapping, are not optimised on a mobile phone unless you allow Hortis to use your device's location.

With location access enabled on your device, Hortis will be able to use your current location when plant material locations are added. If you are experiencing issues, we recommend following these steps below.

To check this on your Android device:

  • Tap on your device's Settings app
  • Tap Location, then tap App Location Permissions
  • Find the name of your mobile web browser in this list
  • Select Allow all the time or Allow only while using the app
  • Toggle the Use precise location button to on

To check this on your Apple device:

  • Tap on your device's Settings app
  • Tap Privacy, and then tap Location Services
  • Find the name of your mobile web browser in this list
  • Select the location access for the app: Always, While Using the App, or Ask Next Time
