Before we can quote for a data transfer, we need to see what you currently hold. Send us your data exactly as it is. There's no need to tidy it up, remove duplicates or fill in gaps first. Seeing your records in their working state is what lets us give you an accurate quote.
Spreadsheets and other small files
If your records are in a spreadsheet or a similar file under 20 MB, email them straight to support@hortis.com.
Files over 20 MB
Most email systems reject attachments above around 20 MB. For anything larger, use a file transfer service such as WeTransfer or SwissTransfer and send us the download link. You can also share a folder from Dropbox, Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive and send us the link instead.
Sending data from a specific system
We have years of experience, transferring from a wide range of data sources, but here are are the most common systems we transfer from.
- IrisBG — Send a recent SQL Server backup file, using the large file instructions above.
- BG-BASE — Zip the entire contents of the DataWin folder and send it using the large file instructions above.
- BRAHMS — Send a recent SQL Server backup file, using the large file instructions above.
- Microsoft Access — Send all the relevant files using the large file instructions above. Access collection databases are often split, with the records held in a separate back-end file from the one you open day to day, so please include both. If any file is password protected, we will send you seperate instructions on how these can be shared.
- FileMaker — The right approach depends on your version and how the database is hosted, so get in touch and we'll advise.
- A custom-built system/other systems — Get in touch and we'll work out the best way to extract your records.
What happens next
We'll confirm we've received your data and come back to you with a transfer quote. This will normally take no longer than a week.
